Cool boots, and I'm not really into lace to toe in general.  The perfect stitching on those makes even my Vibergs look sloppy by comparison.

Not usually into donkey boots or whatever these are called, but these are changing my mind.. What superb craftsmanship and style..!

Thanks for the positive comments guys, and glad you like them.  As to the crepe soles, I realise that they're not everyone's favourite but I personally don't mind them.  To me, they give the boots more of a casual look.  As others have noted, the construction on these RMC boots is amazing.  What the pictures don't show is how comfortable the boots are as well.  Out of the box, these are some of the most comfortable boots I've ever tried.

That isn't a crepe sole. Looks like a 'Christy' from Vibram. Very comfortable!

I'm surprised as this type of sole is surely a modern invention as opposed to the RMC style of reproduction.

It seems that "wedge sole" is a common term to describe this type of sole.  I'm certainly no expert, but Red Wing have apparently been using this type of sole since at least the 1950's.  See:

The soles on these boots are not made by Vibram but by the RMC themselves.
