Nice. I like the button detail.
-
Thanks @veloaudio! I was sold once I saw it in person at SELA. I looked at it online a few times, but online doesn't do it justice.
-
Great pics Ben! I recognize both those guys, the dude in the red overalls is Mr. Ooi, he's actually a pretty high ranking guy at the company and has some of the wildest jewelry of any guy I've ever met.
Also that RJB shirt is awesome, I fell in love with that fabric when I saw it at the expo last November. I love how it seems to completely changed depending on the angle you view it.
-
Thanks kyle! Thats so funny that you know him too, I thought that maybe he was "just" a random staff at RJB since I was under the impression t that there are many in Japan.
Also, funny you mention the jewelry… he asked my mom if the diamonds on her bracelet were real and when she told him yes he made a hilarious face of amazement. He's got an awesome necklace, and really makes me want to start a collection of Flat Head feather jewelry, etc, (like goros style)
What's awesome is that even though he didn't speak too much english, it seemed like we were able to communicate just by our shared knowledge of Flat Head products. The flucky t was a super-weekend exclusive, and when I mentioned that he seemed surprised that I knew what that was.
The only thing thats a major bummer is that I'm already out of tokyo :-\ we only had 3 full days since our main destination is Indonesia and it happened that the tickets worked out the same if we hit up tokyo for a few days. Luckily, we have a friend who lives there so we were able to make the most of it, and she even helped me order the surfer shirt which I was looking for!
Okay guys, I'll add some more pictures when I figure out how to from here! Seems my usual hosting site is blocked in Indonesia
-
Wow Ben, that went fast! Can't wait to hear/see the rest of your trip. What I've found with travelling in general is how funny language and communication is/are. As long as there's a single thing in common you can slowly tease out a method for communicating. (PS if you want your photos up now, drop me an e-mail and I'll get them up for you to share out).
PS How'd you find out about the special stuff? Any real methods, or just rocking up?
Don't think I ever posted a shot from when I was there in April, pretty similarly goofy.
-
The jacket looks like it was tailor made for you @grandmasterben . Keep them pics coming.
@Snowy loving the cuffs mate.
-
Snowy, thank you for the offer! I'll try and email you now
RE special stuff…they actually just had the flucky superweekend in the store, so thats how i saw it. For the surfer shirt, one FH shop in Jiyugaoka didn't have it, but he phoned another one and the shipped it to him. It was super sketchy since I went there and asked him to order it the day before we left (130 pm on the bus to the airport) but luckily it arrived in the morning!
If you have a few days you should be able to order anything, but it might be difficult to communicate depending on the person.
-
And as always snowy comes through! They didn't have my size in this shirt (which I really wanted!), but FH in Jiyugaoka was able to order it for me. Well worth it!
Our last full day in Tokyo we went to quite a few places. Here's a pic in Yoyogi Park which is near the Meiji shrine… we were really lucky as there were hardly any people and it was a great temperature to be walking around.
After that we went and walked around near the emperor's palace, yet again I was surprised by the amount of vegetation that permeates tokyo (or at least these parts)
I had a blast, and I need to go back! ASAP!

Contemplating pickup up the Flannel Western Shirt HNW-52W from R&H. I just need some slight persuasion, I can't go wrong with it, can I?

No, you really can't. I wear the brown version of that shirt constantly.
