        Probably the most common drip/filter is Hario's V60. It's inexpensive and produces a great cup without too much learning curve. It's what I still use after a year as I really love the flavor.

        Hario makes paper filters for the V60 which are a few bucks for a 100 filters. I'd suggest getting them initially also. From there you can spin up/out to other filters without much cost, or add more components to your setup.

        Beans, all can be good, just look for something fresh (roasted 2-3 days ago), with a light roast (should make mention of roasted for filter/pour over or light roast).

          seriously enjoying this morning's pour over. 1 of my dealers dropped me a mail saying this next bag was top shelf, I laughed it off, but am a puddle on the floor right now, not even sure how this is typing. Really Really great body, huge variety of flavours, bit of chocolate on back palette, but lots of light fruits up front.

          Tasting notes;
          El Diviso
          Very juicy filter coffee
          Farmer Omar Collazos / Region Huila / Varietal Caturra / Altitude 1850 MASL / Process Washed
          Grape, floral, chocolate, caramel sweetness, syrupy body, clean finish.

            My setup. Don't under estimate the value of a good quality ceramic cup/mug. Mine are from Stumptown and Four Barrel, makes a huge difference. I'm tempted to pick up a Real McCoy's but they don't appear to be made of good ceramic (the lip seems too thin).

                  You will need paper filters for the v60. The black rubber thing you see is a Able Kone, which I use instead of paper filters (It was about $20 by itself). I suggest starting with a v60 and some papers, and if you like it pick up an Able Kone.

                  The pot (range server) is also not required to start with, and was something I got a month or two later. Initially I just used a glass to pour into.

                  Thanks for the tip on the real mccoy cup, glad I wrote out my thoughts to be corrected; truly thankful. Will pick it up some point later.

                    demonito, inteli will most-def have beans roasted specifically for pourover/filter.

                    From past cuppings the Yirgacheffe will almost certainly be roasted for filter. (It's a consistently amazing region for filtered roasts). http://www.intelligentsiacoffee.com/product/coffee/yirgacheffe-ethiopia Intelli's Honduras also gets me going (http://www.intelligentsiacoffee.com/product/coffee/la-tortuga-honduras).

                              @Chuck, Coffee's even more serious than tea when it comes to such factors/investigations. The world aeropress championships took place down here the other week. Check out the different methods used by the top 3; http://worldaeropresschampionship.com/2013/05/26/2013-wac-recipes/. The same tool was used, but the method and variations are hugely different.

                              @d666, some say minimum of 6 cups a day reduces risk of heart disease, others say it increases other things. Studies can be found on both sides of the fence. Filtered coffee is 'better' for you than espresso due to the extraction method and particle size.

                              @demonito, nice 🙂

                              a great coffee video;

                                  If there's any interest I'm down with getting some fresh-roasted beans sent around the world. They'll arrive right on the day they'll be perfect to drink. Will be a hassle to figure out how to do it on my side, but happy to work out the logistics if anyone wants some beans :).

                                      I'd say about $10. I recon I can land a 250G bag on your door step for around $25USD.

                                          Will see how much interest we gather this week and will get a the bags sent out together (freshly roasted).

                                          For those putting their name down, let me know if filter or espresso (it's fine either way, just want to get the right roast for you).
