Hectic, that sounds like a great movie theater. We have some like that in Austin, too. I like those.
Simon, my personal tip is not to spend money on BluRay if you don't have a big screen and a really good sound system. The difference in image between well upscaled standard DVD and BluRay is not that huge. On anything smaller than a 50" screen it's almost hard to see. My screen is 120" and I tried it out with the Ratatouille DVD and BluRay. BR was perhaps 20% better. Upscaling was done with the Oppo 983 which does a somewhat better job than the PS3 but still even with such a good set-up the difference is not huge. The real difference I find is in the sound quality. That is better. But again you need to have a rather good set-up to hear the difference. I doubt you could hear it with anything under perhaps $1500-2000 in receiver and speakers. But I haven't tried it. Of course, you could still buy some BRs to start your collection. But then again they are still expensive now. It makes more sense to wait till the prices come down a bit.

Sometimes Photobucket really pisses me off… Like right now!!!
-
I have flickr as well. I have had it for a couple years now but decided to use it for other things. My forum photos are all on Photobucket. They are a disaster as far as being orderly and I am waiting until next week when my new computer comes to reorganize everything in my life. I am just afraid that when I reorganize my Photobucket I am going to have have to go back and re-link everything… I was having issues with the file names being similar and not being able to go into specific folders. Shit is a mess at the moment but once I get the new computer and camera, I will get everything in order!!! Excited and scared!

Shoot! Relinking all those pictures? Not sure if it's worth it. I have a folder/set "Forum pics" in flickr. Works great so far except for the thing where I have to open each picture to link it in the correct size. You can set the file naming method in your camera; at least in most cameras that should be possible. Choose a date method. If possible, combine it with a running file method. That loops to 9999 and then starts again. This way you have a good way of finding your photos if you about remember when you shot them. And you have a good idea of how many shots you are actually taking.

Good man and a GREAT idea that slipped my mind all together. Man I feel like a dum dum. I will do that!
-
Well, it doesn't solve the relinking problem, though. I'd consider leaving the links as they are, even if they are messy now. Then re-organize your folder system and start with the new date/number method for all the new pics. When you really have MASSIVE amounts of time to kill (jail sentence for too much forum surfing for example), then you can still re-link the old ones. LOL!

You are right. I am going to create an Old Computer File and a New Computer File for photos on Photobucket and start everything over when I get the new equipment. As for the linking, I am pretty anal and as you may already know, have plenty of time to be on the computer.

Hello Jones. I am allergic to you. Wish I wasn't…
I am watching "How to Make It In America" on HBO and have meant to ask you all a question for the past few weeks. Has anyone else noticed that their Japanese contacts name is Haraki-San?!?

Hi Jones - you are VERY cute - keeping your claws nice and sharp using daddy's denim collection… clever kitten

@ Lando - Do you want to quit smoking? I need to re-quit and we could moral support each other.
Because I care about both of you, I want you to quit smoking. My Mum was a chain smoker from the ages of 22-40 (She had me at age 20). No shit. She smoked those ultra-heavy Marlboros. I remember being around cigarette smoke pretty much constantly as a kid, since my Dad also smoked. (Incidentally, neither myself nor my sister smokes). My dad died from a smoking-related disease at age 57 and my mom replaced one addiction with another – marathon running for smoking. That's how she did it and she's never looked back. In fact, it's 6:30 AM in Oakland and Mum just left on a 6-mile run. Did I mention that the woman is 65-years-young ? It's funny...but you'd think the reverse pans out true -- but kids of parent-smokers are so disgusted by the smell growing up that they tend NOT to become smokers themselves. It's doable hectic. Takes tremendous will-power. Use my Mum's technique -- replace an unhealthy addiction with a healthy one.
