trippleterror, I am loving that Sweater! I would definitely wear that with a classic white oxford, my IH-634S, and some nice suede bucs = LandoCal126 (Seasonal Casual Wear Edition)

If anyones interested have a look at these links.

          http://www.thistleandbroom.com/shopping/apparel/ (expensive but superb)
          http://www.shetlandknitwear.com/Home.aspx (really helpful)
http://www.shetland-handknits.co.uk/welcome.html (I have a Prince of Wales from her)

Rakuten are in Japan (I imagine alot of you know that anyway) but Jamiesons told me that 90% of their production goes there.

Lando, I tend to wear light blue or cream oxford twill. I wear white to work all the time so I need the change !

Cerruti Shirts without breaking the bank 😮

Thank You for the knowledge Till, i think i know where my next few work shirts will be from…  ::) ::)

Simon, that does look like a nice shirt. However, the Cerruti shirts I am talking about are t-shirt/undershirt style. They are of mercerized cotton jersey with short sleeves and a button placket with three buttons. I believe the German Schiesser brand was the OEM for those.

When you say work shirts, do yo mean shirts for your work at the optics shop? That will do. But if you mean work shirt in the sense that it is used for IH shirts here, the Cerrutis you linked to are really not made for that. They are dress  shirts.

TT, if that pullover was handknit in Japan with an IH label it would be $600. I love the craftsmanship and have similar sweaters but with long sleeves only.

You'd probably have to go to an actual store in a big city. Either a Cerruti store or a fine lingerie store. Have never seen the stuff online but haven't actively looked, either. The models I have are discontinued, of course, after such a long time.

              If you try this http://tuttlecatalog.com/cat/shop-by-brand-zimmerli.cfm/id/1055

it should give you the same quality. That's about what I paid for the Cerruti shirts but 23 years ago. So the price on those Zimmerlis is actually good.

BTW, combining one of these really fine shirts with the heavy IH quality is precisely the kind of interesting material mix I was talking about elsewhere.

£100 to £130 will get you a real nice Fair Isle Handknit.

I know, Simon. I was just saying that if you put a Japanese label in them you could easily triple that price.

I'm glad that no one other than those on Shetland can make authentic Fair Isle as I think it would spoil it. Too much exposure can take away the 'special' feeling of something.
I suppose it's a bit like IH, not mass market, a bit underground but important to those who cherish it.
                    Long live under exposure !

Quite happy with these despite having had to pay an extra 211 € in taxes and such.

Seul, those metallic Diors are the hoot. I just saw a pair of metallic brown/gold dust Ferragamo full brogues in Chicago. Incredible shoes but would have been over $900 with tax. Can't do that. Will look at the outlet store for them. They were basically the same look as the Dupont gold dust lighters. More irregular than your model there. I suppose not many men will buy those so there should be some on a good sale price one day.

Yeah you gotta be pretty confident of your own sexuality to wear those.  😉

They're epic as fuck though. Loads of fun. And lord are they put together well  😞

So, it's a l-o-ooong story but recently, an unexpected $650 fell into my lap. So of course, being the denim-head that I am…I blew $400 of it. This time, I did something different. I followed Seul's and DougNg's cue and gave pre-owned Japanese denim  on SuFu a try. I figured, why the fuck not ?

I also (dead's urging helped) loosened up my morals and gave lighter weight denim/other brands, as well as different fits -- a chance.

                                        Here's what I bought :

                                        1. Samurai S0500XX 15 oz Texas Cotton (with the Arcs, from 2nd), W28, L32. They've been soaked once only -- haven't tried them on yet but they look brand fucking new. They're beautiful. The feel of this denim is just amazing. Crunchy galore (dead, something you often discuss -- the crunchiness of certain denim) and quite rigid and heavy though just 15 oz. I bought based on measurements, not tag size...and 15 inches in the waist for STF sounds just about right. These likely have more shrinking left in them. These are $350 on BIG and BIG's version lacks rear-pocket designs. I paid only $170 shipped, bought from alleyooptroop.

                                        2. A BRAND NEW RAW PAIR of Sugar Cane Okinawas (not even soaked) in W29/L33.5...for $200. As you probably know, Sugar Cane Okinawas are 14.5 oz denim. Bought from chantheman.

I've received the Samurais and the Iron Heart Indigo Cyclists already (the latter purchased from foldingsocks). They're pretty much new jeans, without tags (the Samurai's soaked once but barely worn). I'm waiting for the Okinawas to arrive (probably today).

                                        Fit pics soon !

                                        Shubha
