Thought I would post these for posterity.  I've had these since 2008.  I bought them from Giles just before he went on a trip to Japan and I asked, well, since you're over there, can you have these hemmed in Japan?  He got it done on his trip!  So, that's a pretty unique thing about this particular pair.  Also, these have silver rivets including a silver crotch rivet back when they did that.

I've had them patched and repaired once, at Self Edge New York.

I actually took the time to take photos of it a couple times over the years.

Hah, yeah, that solves the same problem.  I guess I was thinking of a different form factor/shape.

Also, I've had an idea for a leather piece bobbling around in my head forever.  Bought my first pair of Iron Hearts from Giles in 2008 and ever since then I've had this idea.

✅  So, many of us carry keys on a caribiner or a key hook or something, right?  The keys jangle around and are noisy.  Lame.  Someone should make a simple cone shaped piece of leather that attaches to a keyring and wraps around keys and keeps them from rattling around.  It can be secured by a snap so that it's easy to unsnap and access your keys.  It shouldn't be big and look like a damn ice cream cone around your keys…just enough to add pressure, squeezing the keys together just enough so they don't jangle around.  Maybe just a 1.5"x3" strip of leather cut so that it forms a cone when snapped together.

At the risk of killing my own idea: Right now, I actually put one of my wife's rubber hair bands around the back end of my keys so they don't rattle around.  Not elegant, but effective and unobtrusive.

      Hrm, interesting thread.

✅  So, I used to carry a small pocket knife in my right pocket that actually wore through the cotton pocket bag.  My wife, actually sewed in a small patch of rip-stop nylon into the cotton pocket bag.  This is quite non-traditional, but it might be interesting to offer pocket bags made of rip-stop material.

✅  This is not a new idea…I've seen it in other genres, but not on the Japanese denim scene.  Also, non traditional, but we all carry around these dang big smartphones now, right?  Maybe a yoke pocket.  Again, very non traditional, I know.

These are both non-traditional ideas that I almost have a problem posting here, but neither disrupt the classic look of a 5 pocket jean.  Maybe it's more a Triple Aught Design thing (they already have yoke pockets though -- not a new idea)

    • RE: IH-634S - 21oz Selvedge Denim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo

Hey, all, I bought a pair of 634s' maybe 12 or 13 years ago and decided they were too loose for me. Ended up returning them and got a different model, a pair of 461s that I still have to this day. (Very special pair to me since Giles had them made with silver rivets, incl. a crotch rivet, and had them hemmed in Japan since he just happened to be there at the time.)

But now I kind of want to look into 634s again and notice that they seem like they are cut a tiny bit slimmer. I have a pair of 666s and of course they don't seem that slim, but maybe a little slimmer.

Am I just seeing it that way and they are cut the exact same way they were 10+ years ago or are they, indeed, actually cut a tiny bit slimmer?

      Me.
