Got mine today and all I can say is "wow". Now I see what all the fuss is about. First impression when I took it out of the box was...damn this is heavy. IIRC it is supposed to be a 15.5oz fabric but I have several flannels in the 12oz-14.5oz range and they are nothing like this. The closest thing I can compare it to would be a cross between an extremely heavy twill and a flannel. It's totally unique so that's really the best I can do. I am 6' 205lbs and the size 5 is perfect for me, not quite as much room as my XXXL IH workshirts but not snug, plenty of room in the chest and body. I'm not a fan of form fitting clothes so take that into consideration. Here are some pics of it on me, for color reference I am wearing IH 17oz 888 in natural indigo with one wash. The fabric pic should give you a better idea of what the fabric is like...the looser weave on the top is a UES Heavy (14.5oz) flannel in indigo. The bottom fabric is the Tricotine, you can see how much tighter the weave is. I do have one small complaint about the shirt but it's a complaint I have about most of the Japanese brands...the sleeves are a tad too tight. I'm not a big man with big arms and these sleeves are definitely some of the slimmer sleeves I have in my closet.

I'm enjoying a Mocha Java this morning. 85% Yemen 15% Java. I own and operate a very small roasting business. I bought an Aillio Bullet roaster a few years ago and I've been having a blast with it. I have over 2000 roasts on it now and it's hard for me to drink coffee from anyone else now. Fresh coffee makes all the difference...cheers.

Just picked this one up today...took advantage of Franklin & Poe's BF sale which includes items already on sale. Shirt was around $150usd...wow. The color on this is just stunning in person. This was a steal....

Grabbed this today and also have my first IH flannel arriving via DHL later. This is their heavyweight flannel and it’s really nice. Not sure of the specifics of the weight…feels like 14oz give or take, it’s hefty but because it isn’t brushed doesn’t feel quite as heavy as my Freenote Bensons. The details are impressive and the finish is flawless. Really digging the colors as well.

Received them today and couldn't be happier...love this cut. Slim but not skinny and will make a fantastic option along with my 17oz 888 natural indigo. Anyone on the fence about these because they are listed as a "super slim" need not worry, these aren't skinny jeans. I'm assuming that most of us who are dropping $350+ on a pair of jeans are old enough to be at a point in their lives where that cost wont wreck our finances. Which also means...especially for us Americans...our skinny body days are a distant memory. lol I am in my mid 50's and I'm 6' tall and weight 200-205lbs. These 36" size fit perfectly, plenty of room in the top with a narrow leg that looks perfectly natural and not skinny. I hope this helps anyone on the fence for this cut. Now I'm off to decide which cut to get my black jeans in...lol

Custom Johannes in desert rough out leather with platinum stitching. I got these for a steal a few years ago in their discount section. IIRC the were around $350. I contacted Wesco to inquire as to why they were in the discount section of their website and the guy on the phone was stunned when he couldn't find anything wrong with them. They are the finest stitched boots I've ever seen and I get compliments on them all the time.

Big fan of Sugar Cane shirts. I don't have any of their bottoms so cannot comment on those, but their shirts are outstanding and are a solid value for their price. Here are three examples. The two short sleeve shirts are a tribute to the old uniforms that workers at Coca-cola used to wear. They are nice and roomy, which my 6' 200lb dad bod frame enjoys. lol The fabric is herringbone with nice texture. The long sleeve is a nice linen shirt with some very cool texture and variation in color.

Picked this shirt up from Okayama and I’m floored. The attention to detail and the texture of the fabric are simply stunning. It’s also WAY heavier than I anticipated at 13oz. The fit is perfect and I can’t wait for the weather to cool down so I can wear this.

You can see the difference in the width of the sleeves...this is a huge one for me. I'm not a fan of the modern, more tailored sleeves. The WL material is a slightly looser weave and as such has a little more character in the material. However, the IH tight weave is a much more refined look and is beautiful in its own right. The interior is really where these two diverge...the WL is an old school vintage US 1940-60s feel and the IH is insanely soft and comfortable.

I ordered 3 of these a few days ago and was wondering if anyone had tried them and what their opinions on them were. The different weave intrigued me so I decided to give them a shot. I'm always on the lookout for different T shirts. I have T's from American Giant, Taylor Stitch, Left Field NYC, 3Sixteen, Dehen 1920, Freenote Cloth, RRL, Paka, etc...so I have a pretty good range to compare them against. When they come in I'll give a detailed description and let you guys know how they stack up with what I have.

I was just wondering if anyone had them and what their opinion on them was.

You weren't lying...damn this thing is heavy. Much heavier than my IH Ultra Heavy hoodie. They are also completely different designs. The materials are also completely different. The IH material is more of a soft, brushed interior while the WL is unbrushed with large loops inside. One is not better than the other, they are simply different. The designs are also completely different withe WL having the Raglan sleeves and IH have the traditional sleeves.

These are both spectacular articles of clothing and I'm proud to own them both. If I were to give the nod to one over the other I would give it to WL for the following reasons.

1. I like the more generous fit of the WL. I'm a bigger guy who likes to wear his clothes a bit on the big side.
2. I grew up the the US wearing the original articles of clothing these are both based on. My dad was a gym teacher and we always had hoodies and sweats available to us. These were never used as fashion pieces, they were SWEAT clothes that we used to work out in. The unbrushed, unlined interior of the WL is exactly what the old stuff had. I don't remember getting fleece lining in sweats until I was a teenager. I'm in my mid 50's and my dad is 80. This feels like my dads sweat shirts and I love that feel.

I would absolutely buy both of these hoodies again. I would buy the IH if I was looking for more of a refined, polished piece and the WL if I was looking for a bigger fit and old school tactile feel of the vintage US sweats. You cannot go wrong with either and it's great to have both of these available to us consumers. These companies get it...and it's awesome.

@Giles I totally get that and completely understand. I can't expect IH to make every item a perfect fit for my form. However, I reserve the right as an obese American to complain and blame clothing makers for my fat ass. rofl.

It's not a completely apples to apples comparison but there is some precedence in lawsuits like this. Years ago, Gibson guitars brought suit against PRS guitars for their single cutaway guitar. The court used the "dark or dimly lit club" reasoning to find in Gibson's favor. Essentially, if a person watching a band in a dimly lit bar cannot tell the difference between a PRS single cut guitar and a Gibson Les Paul, then PRS is in breach of the Gibson copyright. It may have been overturned in an appeal but it sent shockwaves through the guitar industry and it sent companies scrambling to modify the "Les Paul"ish designs.

Thanks...yeah, I can definitely see the sleeves are a bit thicker. I think I'm going to grab one of the hoodies. As luck would have it, the green one is the same color as the school colors for the boy's volleyball team I coach. That will help me justify it to my wife. lol
