I was up in the Carhartt store at the TVG in Sydney today and I was shocked at the similarity of the stuff they had with IH. They had similar style flannel shirts, hickory stripe, work chambray, their version of the IH cordura windbreaker. I was like, woah. Nothing like the quality of IH though, about 1/3 the price. I'm guessing these are staples of quality work clothes, so it would only be natural for both companies to come up with similar kinds of clothing. I was going to take some pics, but I figured wouldn't go down so well with the sales staff (I was the only one in the store, and it was a small store).

Yeah, I saw that Carhartt Hickory shirt in the store in London. Construction was a pale shadow of IH, no thanks Carhartt. Wasn't cheap either.

Work-related gear has been hot for a while now… Lotsa brands having their go at chambrays and workshirts and all that... Of course, it's like a cow reading Wittgenstein: they don't know what the fuck they're doing...

If I wanted to abuse workers by buying stuff made in Asian countries to pose as a 'worker', I'd buy Carhartt though, sure!..

Doesn't really make sense - do we need a Carhartt thread??? Thread was about work-related gear now being produced by 'bigger corps' (read as: effin phonies)…

                    It's fairly obvious I'm not a fan, innit  😉 😉

                        Duck pants?  🙂

I've browsed through their site recently but the ones I've found are either double leg or some type of cargo variety.

Just looking for a slightly slim cut duck pants. Haven't seen one so far.

I don't think Duck pants are ever really slim …but anyways

I picked up a Carhartt Roper Canvas pants from UnionMade SF and had it chainstitched at Self Edge.
Quality is decent, 12 oz canvas with a slim fit.  I needed some black pants other than my 22oz Super Black.
                            Someday, I will take pics…

This thread should definitely be here. Carhartt has a place in my heart. I actually have this coming seasons catalog for the Euro line at my place. Maybe I will scan some images in when I get back there tomorrow.
