      My boot collection so far
      L-R Viberg Service rough out, Oliver Sweeney Noceto, Oliver Sweeney Selby, Viberg Boondockers, Oliver Sweeney Ackerman, Magnanni Chelsea boots

      Looking for a nice pair of rough out hiker boots at the moment.

      I haven't tried any Wesco boots yet - are they comparable to Viberg?

    • RE: Iron Heart Products - What do you think we should make?

      @Giles:

      I suspect a LHT 19oz SBG will not be made, it's hyper "specialist", and we'd need to make enough for at least 400 items.

      I don't know why the arms are wider.

      We won't OD a white, we tried it and it turned out to be very patchy.  I guess all our OD is, you just don't notice it on a dark base….

      Sorry..... 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Thanks Giles

      If the XHSib run of jeans are successful - perhaps a run of similar material jackets might be initiated, maybe utilising the SBG as a weft?

      Think it could be possible to create a type III with a 25oz body like the IH-526SV but with 21oz arms? or would that be weird?

      I'm in the market for a Denim Type III jacket at the moment and there isn't much available on the IH website.

      I've already picked up the Drab Green Whipcord jacket IH-526-ODG and the black Corduroy IHJ-69 which are great, really like the cut.

      For a long time I have been torn between getting a SBG or a Left hand twill 19oz but they're all gone now…

      I don't suppose the 2 could be combined? A left hand twill with SBG weft?

      It would save me having to choose between the 2 and would have epic evo potential.

      Also, why are the arms on the SBG and LHT 19oz so wide looking compared to a lot of the other jackets?

      ...or a white 526 that was given the overdye treatment

      How about 25oz SBG or shadow selvedge denim overalls?

      Currently I commute in a Rukka Realer/Nivala Jacket - it's light, it's soft, it's comfortable, it's waterproof, it contains D30 armour for the shoulders, elbows, chest and back - designed in a way that you barely even notice they're there. It even came with a separate goose down thermal jacket as a liner.

      It's frick'n awesome and is puritanical in its design - it cost £1200 and looks dull.

      I do like the 1946 riders jacket that IH do though - perhaps it could be made from 25oz denim with leather raglan shoulders and padded elbows.

      Like a biker version of the Melton Wool Varsity jacket, but tougher…

      @footandmaff:

      As someone who probably fits into the young Iron Heart wearing motorcyclist demographic, the biggest thing for me would be the option for added protection. I'm thinking either pockets for D30 armour, or with armour already built in. That's part of the reason why I ride with a Belstaff, rather than sticking one of my Iron Heart jackets. I do ride in my IH jeans, but it would be reassuring to be able to include protection on the knees and hips. Most of my riding is urban, so I'm travelling at low speed and take the view that 21oz is at least going to offer some more protection than riding along in a pair of store bought jeans.

      In terms of styling, Iron Heart already nail it, that's why I wear your stuff. But for a brand so built around motorcycling in its marketing, I've always thought the lack of protection is a bit of an oversight. To my mind, it sounds as though the IH Racing line could be a good way of addressing that gap.

      I have to agree with footandmaff. IH Jeans offer the best level of protection that can be offered from a jean. I like the fact that I can commute in them but I would never wear them on a serious ride out - I wear leathers or my Rukka gear.

      I'm a little unsure of what Iron Heart Racing means. Most of what IH makes presently represents the classic motorcycle wear of riders of low to medium performance machinery, like Harleys or classic triumphs and like.

      An option would be to weave kevlar fibres into the denim at stress points to create stronger resistance to cutting or tearing in the event of an 'off'

      Certainly, there's no reinventing the wheel in this area - which is why Belstaff are still turning out their Trophy jacket after 50+years. God only knows how many Harley Davidson No.7 orange and black jackets have been sold….
