    • RE: Introduce Yourself Here

Hi folks, thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm a dad of one and expecting a second later this year. I live in California and was introduced to Iron Heart via Self Edge in San Francisco some years ago. Before then I had shied away from the kind of price points one finds in those stores but went in on a whim, looking to see what a nicer pair of jeans felt like. I think I walked out that day with jeans, two UHFs, and a crazy new curiosity for well made clothes. Who would have thought that a Japanese brand would be the one to make sleeves that fit my longer arms?
I have my PhD in philosophy and I remember early on talking to one of my mentors and telling them how proud I was of my new Dr Martens and how they meant I didn't need to worry about buying or shopping for new shoes for quite a long time (they ended up lasting me 12 years of near daily use). The professor, who dressed well in his own right, smiled and replied that I was right as long as I didn't care about fashion trends.
Sitting here, getting ready to watch the S/S '25 reveal I'm not sure if I care about fashion trends or not. Likely not. It's almost like the feat of creating well made clothes is something worth coming together and celebrating. Not because it's trend setting but because... HAVE YOU SEEN THAT STITCHING? 😮‍💨

I could ramble forever but I won't. Happy to be here and nice to see everyone's introductions!

@Giles for what it's worth, I had a good shopping experience.

Received mine yesterday. The bag is definitely "break the needle" in practice with the beautiful diamond stitching.

Haven't had it long but some update pics after 2 months. Love that indigo is rubbing off on it.

Love my IH sweatpants - been worth every penny. I'm really hopeful that I'll like this hoodie just as much.

Thanks. Maybe I'll try it on an older shirt to see how well I can finesse it off.

I grabbed one. Stoked for it. Need denim for all occasions and this fits a niche need 😆

    • RE: IHDR-434-TBC - 14oz Fox Brothers® Wool CPO Shirt - Tuscan Brown Check Twill Flannel

Even though the dry cleaning will be a pain in the butt for me, I was too intrigued by the material and Fox Brothers to pass on this one. High quality wool is amazing.

I'm seeing that these are Dry Clean only. Being a bit out of town, that's a bummer. I know wool doesn't carry smells like cotton but to anyone who has one of these - ever just throw it in the wash on delicate?

@Mister_Brue, thanks. I've tried a short sleeve Work cut and it didn't work well for me. From the pictures it does look like the Mechanic shirt follow a similar boxy style.

How does the mechanic cut compare to the Western or Work cuts? Western works well on my body type but Work not so much.
