I was going to try the Samurai 19oz boot cut which I thought would be a bold move but after trying them on, well they are a bit tight up top!
Probably good for a spin around town here and there but not nearly every single day of the year
So I sent them back and opted to go with the Mister Freedom Speedway in the NOS black painted denim. These are interesting, a 12oz indigo/white non selvedge denim painted black on the front side only so not an all the way overdye. They should turn towards dark blue pretty quick and we will see from there. I know the heavier weights tend to have more pronounced fades but these should be fun to wear all year and plan my wardrobe around. I might get some steve mcqueen esque snuff suede chukka boots when they are a little lighter, who knows.

Yeah to add on to what others have said, don’t think of the weights like the tog number on a duvet. They are used as short hand but often secondary to the more interesting features of the denim

@Oaktavia looks like Pierce Brosnan is in the Jelado version of a classic Lee coverall
I always like to think about what shops the wardrobe people shop at. I don’t think IH and Jelado share a UK stockist

I used to live across the street from Ray’s! If you’re going to go out that way definitely check out the locks or golden gardens

Seems similar to the IHSH-380-IND: a 12oz sashiko like twill with indigo rope dyed warp and cheese dyed weft, but in pants.

I love the oni secret denim though the sizing is too hit and miss for me, but I like these

These items comes from a smoke-free and pet-free environment. All items are cleaned, but may require steaming or ironing upon arrival. The shirts were not so wrinkled coming out of my closet trust me! But moving them through my living room in stages of washing, drying, measuring, photographing seemed to do a number.

@FlannelnBooze you might prefer the 888 over the 1955 anyway, since like the 777 it also has a taper from the knee

@DeeDee85 I havent worn it a ton but so far its a slow fader, its aging more like one of my darker chambray shirts than a 12oz denim shirt for example. The blue is starting to pop out a little more with a couple washes.

This or the work shirt at their outlet price are a great deal. Its a versatile shirt, more like a midcentury workwear fabric that happens to look like denim.
