Giles and Paula Add a Room Onto the Side of The House
-
So, I am back from New York, and things have moved on:
At the top of the new stairs, we had a large void that was really annoying me as it was wasted space. Les had the brilliant idea of making it into a cupboard for all our crockery etc for the new dining room, which is through a doorway to the left of this pic It has, of course, been christened Les's Cupboard….
The kitchen units have been undercoated and Les is using bucket loads of filler to make good the old units…..
Granite worktops arrive tomorrow…..

It's this:

We had one for 14 years in the "old" kitchen and loved it.

I have a complete antipathy to light coloured granite work surfaces - it's a personal thing.

Ok, the Color Concept makes sense with the dark worktop and the light floor, really looking forward to see it finished.
I have no expierience with either one of them, we have tons of own Color manufacturers here but slowly F&B startes to crawl in, they just have an insanly good markting and smartly went around the whole Manufacturer sells to Painter who then either paints it or sells it to the customer thingy we have going on here and just opend showrooms where you can buy the color yourself. They skipped all the between sales which leads to customers calling the painters and asking them to paint the colors they alreay have which they don´t like at all because in germany thats a huge way for them to make money

Thats a quite common theme with hardware store paint here, absolute pain in the arse if you have to do it yourself and even a bigger pain if you have to pay somebody by the hour to paint it for you.
I personally like to use paint by the company "Keim" because they do silicate paint which i prefer over acrylic paint because its more natural and the colors are way brighter and react better with light, the blue wall on my outfit pics sometimes is a Le Courbousier (very famous swiss Bauhaus architect) Color by Keim.

And the F&B paint is really thin, so the decorator needs to paint more coats to get the same depth of colour….
Hmmm, have no experience with Little Green which seems to be not that widespread on the continent but our complete interior is painted with F&B, two coats and we are very happy with the results.
