Then these turned up…..Les is hung over and Alex has damaged his back (when a car pulled out in front of him when he was cycling home)....., so I guess shifting them is down to me....(Paula, conveniently has a subsequent engagement  🙂 🙂 🙂 )

That is some very nice hand cut Blue Stone. Where was it laid previously? Do you know the history of it? Thick
      Stuff

      Maybe so. Maybe not

I do not know where it was laid previously.  In the UK, we call this York stone or York flags.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yorkstone

I am buying it from a reclamation yard in Yorkshire.

I've bought it in 3 batches thus far, each with it's own character, so I am going to have to be quite careful when I lay it…

So, we had to divert the down-pipe to get the last joist in.  Reckon the building regs person will be happy with our solution  🙂 ?

I see nothing wrong with that.  Looks perfect, in fact.

Oh, and the auto close windows sound brilliant.  I wish we'd had that in our old house- Julie was perpetually leaving the windows in the garage apartment open.

Today, Les and I (mainly Les  🙂 ), effectively completed inner roof.  A few more firrings  and the plywood should be completed tomorrow…..

We call it Flag stone as well or Blue stone. Those are very nice. They seem
To Be in great shape. I don’t see any cleaving of the stones. Be careful indeed… with your fingers! I have some great tricks for moving them and laying them if you’re intersted. Depending on the base you’re setting them in.

                Maybe so. Maybe not

@Matty123 I'd love some tips for moving them,  yesterday was a bastard…..I have just the one bruised thumb  😃

We'll either screed bed them when we have a run or runs that consist of slabs of effectively the same thickness) or individually bed them when we have slabs of varying thickness.

The slabs that arrived yesterday are effectively all 24 inches wide, so we'll be able to lay them in courses pretty quickly.

As long as it doesn’t leak they can go for a long walk off a short pier. Looks like a good temporary bodge to me.

That internal roof is giving me the horn though. I do love a nice bit of framework, not to mention the lintels and joists [emoji7]

@neph93 , you'll be disappointed, the build regs person is on holiday, so I took a vide of the stuff that she is interested in, hope it'll be enough for her….

She sounds like my kind of building regs person. The ones my local council sends out are like bespectacled pitbulls with sadistic tendencies. They’ll be first against the wall when the revolution comes.

It’s all looking very well executed.

I'm just waiting for the major fuck up.  We had one issue that kept me awake at night last week.  Some of the joists had been made the wrong length, which would have meant the lantern was going to be off centre and thus screwing up everything.  Les fixed it the following day within a couple of hours.  The Posijoists are amazing, but when you hit a snafu, good old-fashioned timber joists are a lot easier to re-jig…

Stonework not started yet.  Scaffolding is where we need to lay the stone.  I reckon that taking the scaffolding down is 2-3 weeks away - Need it up there until the coping stones are laid, which can't happen until the roof is completed…I'd love to have you do it....would free Les up to do more stuff inside.

Scaffolding is often the culprit. I can’t tell you how many times I was called to
A job to be asked why I hadn’t planted or laid my stone yet. I silently walked out of The job trailer over to the scaffolding. with pointer finger extended, I emoted this question “ how the fuck am I supposed to put my material in under this erected scaffolding.
