@RobeOfTheMagi that’s freaking nuts!! Takes us back to the ‘ol cost per wear argument and even more important the environmental sustainability impact.
Reading that article made me feel alot better about what we’ve got going on here in our community.

Well it’s going to be a long 4 days…60 cm’s of snow predicted for the next 4 days. Schools are all closed for at least tomorrow and all of the local municipalities saying to stay off the roads unless it’s an emergency.
Predicting 60-80 km winds over a bit of the time as well. So snowed in and the possibility of no power. Generator is fuelled and ready, beer fridge stocked, and plenty of food in the house.

…the catch is that I’m the youngest on the laneway with one neighbour who just broke his hip 2 weeks ago. I plow the laneway and clear all of the trees off when they fall. Sometimes the neighbours help when they can…all I see is work in subzero temps, lots of snow, and the possibility of no power as the icing on the cake.

Good on you for helping though @goosehd . A stocked beer fridge sounds like a little exciting if you ask me, especially if it's beers I haven't tried yet.
To contribute - just came off a State call and heard our program is going to take a huge hit on the budget. Expecting up to 50% for next year. The feeling of uncertainty and doom in the office this past month has been somewhat mitigated but folks are definitely feeling it now. Fun times ahead - guess I should go stock my beer fridge too, huh?

@J-IV ...wishing you the best and was in the same position back in 2008. Sleepless nights are no joke.
For the record, we did lose our jobs but made a decision to do something that we both love and to never work for anyone but ourselves again.
For as dark as it looks, the sun is shining over the horizon.

@goosehd I appreciate the reassurance and kind words. I’m sure I’ll be okay (albeit a little more ornery to my leadership), my heart just goes to the school districts we serve. Ultimately the kids will be the ones affected.
Just gotta keep paddling until the next wave comes. Or the next snow storm? I had a witty ending but totally lost it.

@J-IV we have a lot of teachers in my building that are feeling this same anxiety that are on staff through special grant funding. It's rather unnerving.

@J-IV lotta nervous folks about. I work in Aurora, Colorado. Which has been one of the target cities mentioned in speeches and on the news a lot. We have a very large immigrant community in the neighborhoods surrounding my school. We just try our best to create a caring environment that fosters compassion and growth.
